Our Green Policy

At WYLDE Café, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment by implementing practical and effective green practices across our café, from sourcing ingredients locally to reducing energy and waste.

Our team plays a crucial role in delivering an environmentally conscious service, offering ideas, insight, and engagement that help WYLDE continually evolve. Although we are at the start of our ‘Green’ journey, we are committed to expanding sustainable initiatives, improving practices, and inspiring guests to make mindful choices that support both personal wellbeing and the planet.

The 5 C’s of WYLDE’s Green Policy

WYLDE’s sustainability strategy mirrors the core framework of the HYDE family, guided by five pillars: Carbon Footprint, Conservation, Co-Operation, Commitment, and Community. We monitor and reduce emissions, conserve resources, adapt and innovate our practices, fully engage in lowering energy and waste, and collaborate with the wider community.

Each pillar ensures that our operations are environmentally responsible, socially conscious, and aligned with the Connacht Hospitality Group’s overarching sustainability goals, making every visit to WYLDE a positive experience for both guests and the planet.

Carbon Footprint

At WYLDE, we actively measure, monitor, and manage our use of energy, water, waste, and materials to reduce our carbon footprint. Our café uses energy-efficient LED lighting and water-saving equipment, while food waste is closely monitored to minimise excess.

Ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible, supporting regional producers and reducing transport-related emissions. We also encourage guests to consider eco-friendly travel options.

Through these measures, we aim to make each cup of coffee, meal, and takeaway order not only delicious but also environmentally responsible, demonstrating that sustainable practices and high-quality food can coexist seamlessly.

Conservation

WYLDE Café prioritises resource conservation across all operations. Compostable cups, lids, and takeaway packaging are standard, while biodegradable cleaning products reduce environmental impact.

We minimise single-use plastics wherever possible and encourage mindful use of energy and water. By separating recyclables, composting organic waste, and sourcing materials responsibly, WYLDE ensures that each action contributes to protecting the planet.

Visitors are also invited to engage in these efforts, with simple eco-conscious steps encouraged at every touchpoint, demonstrating that small, consistent actions collectively make a meaningful difference in environmental preservation.

Co-Operation

Sustainability at WYLDE relies on collaboration and innovation. Our team continually adapts practices, embraces new ideas, and encourages responsible behaviours among staff and guests alike.

Waste separation facilities are readily available, and thoughtful consumption is promoted, from skipping straws to ordering only what will be eaten. We actively educate and inspire both staff and visitors to adopt greener habits, ensuring sustainability becomes a shared responsibility.

By fostering a culture of co-operation, WYLDE ensures that every member of our community, team or visitor, can participate in protecting the environment and promoting lasting, positive change.

Commitment

Our dedication to sustainability is ongoing and practical. WYLDE follows strict waste separation policies, returning used cooking oil for recycling and minimising landfill contributions. Paper usage is reduced through digital communication and electronic ordering, and single-use plastics are avoided wherever possible.

These measures, combined with staff training, consistent monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives, reflect WYLDE’s firm commitment to reducing environmental impact while maintaining high-quality service.

Every decision, from sourcing ingredients to managing waste, is designed to preserve resources and create a sustainable, environmentally conscious café experience.

Community

Community lies at the centre of WYLDE’s green philosophy. We actively engage with local charities and initiatives, promoting environmental awareness and social responsibility.

From participating in beach cleans and litter picks to supporting community-driven sustainability projects, WYLDE fosters collaboration and shared purpose. Through these efforts, guests are invited to be part of a wider movement that nurtures both the city and the environment.

By combining eco-conscious operations with community engagement, WYLDE ensures that sustainability extends beyond the café, making every visit a positive contribution to Galway’s social and environmental wellbeing.
